How to use
Open a PNG, JPEG or WebP, choose AVIF quality, and run the encoder.
Limits and behavior
Uses the single-thread AV1 encoder. Larger images can take time; cancel terminates the worker. Output is lossy, 8-bit AVIF and does not copy source metadata. Still PNG, JPEG and WebP only; 20 MB, 4 megapixels and 4,096 pixels per side. Processing stays on your device. Exports apply orientation and discard source metadata. PNG output preserves transparency unless the selected operation composites it.
AVIF image converter using AV1 encoding
Create an AVIF image from a still-image input using an AV1 encoder. This image format converter can help prepare modern web assets, but encoding may take longer for large inputs or slower devices.
Is AVIF always smaller than JPG or WebP?
Not necessarily. File size and appearance depend on the picture, encoder and chosen settings. Always compare the downloaded result against your original.
