How to use
Choose a portrait and run the model. The verified model and WASM runtime load from this site; image pixels stay on your device. Download the transparent PNG after inspecting the edges.
Limits and behavior
Uses the Apache-2.0 MODNet quantized portrait model. It is designed for people, and can fail on objects, complex backgrounds, hair or unusual lighting. Inference resizes to multiples of 32 with a 1,024-pixel longer-edge cap, then scales alpha back. Results require inspection and are not guaranteed pixel-perfect. Still PNG, JPEG and WebP only; 20 MB, 4 megapixels and 4,096 pixels per side. Processing stays on your device. Exports apply orientation and discard source metadata. PNG output preserves transparency unless the selected operation composites it.
Cut out a portrait subject from its background
This AI-assisted photo background remover uses an on-device portrait matting model to estimate a foreground cutout. It is best suited to supported portrait images rather than guaranteeing perfect removal for every object.
Does background removal always make a perfect edge?
No. Hair, transparent objects, unusual lighting and busy scenes can produce imperfect edges. Inspect the result before using it commercially.
